Kole Slaw, Just a Little Side

"What's that?"
"What's what?"
"That?"
"What?"
"It's staring at me."
"It's not staring at you."
"Yes it is."
"No it's not."
"What is it?"
"It's a kohlrabi."
"Well it looks like an alien. And it's staring at me."
"It's only alien to you and it's not staring at you."
"You're not going to eat it are you?"
"Yes, WE are going to eat it."
"No, I'm not."
"Yes you are."
"I don't like it."
"Yes you do."
"No, I don't."
"You've eaten it before."
"No, I haven't."
"Do you know our famous Kohl Slaw; the one I supposedly keep misspelling?"
"Don't tell me."
"I'm telling you."
"No."
"Yes...and you love it."
"We are eating aliens."
"No, we are eating kohlrabi and you DO like it."
"You know, the aliens have brainwashed you."
<sigh>

1 Head of Kohlrabi, thick outer layers peeled away
2 Medium Carrots
1/2 Sweet Onion
1 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Celery Seeds
1/2 Cup Buttermilk
1/2 Cup Mayo
1/4 Cup White Wine Vinegar
1 tsp Sugar

Grate the kohlrabi and the carrots.
Slice the onion very thin and chop into small pieces, similar in size to the grated veggies.
Mix together the mayo, buttermilk, vinegar, salt, sugar and celery seed.
Taste and adjust flavors to your own perfect taste.
Mix. Taste. (I love, love, love vinegar, so I usually find myself adding a little more for the tang.)
Let sit at least an hour, better if over night.
Serve and enjoy!
